Cryptocurrency is so popular even a spoof coin featuring the face of a Shiba Inu is rising in value.

The price of Dogecoin (pronounced "doh-j") is up to 13 cents as of Wednesday morning, according to the news site Coindesk.

The "memecoin" was created in 2013 as a joke poking fun at the surge in digital coins, says Coindesk. Dogecoin was inspired by the popular Doge meme, which stars the image of a Shiba Inu staring sideways at the camera with raised eyebrows, says the website Know Your Meme.

Arguably Dogecoin's most popular fan is Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who tweeted Wednesday a GIF which appears to show a Shiba Inu smiling.

"Dogecoin is the people's crypto," Musk wrote in February.

Fans of Dogecoin took to to celebrate its mini-surge.
