Google Maps on iPhone is adding traffic features made popular by Waze

One of the most popular features on the Android version of Google Maps is finally coming to the iPhone.

Google announced iPhone users will now have the option to report traffic incidents such as accidents or slowdowns on Google Maps.

Users can tap a button on screen and then report fender benders, major crashes, speed traps, or other events potentially slowing down traffic.

Both versions of Google Maps will allow users to report new types of incidents: construction, lane closures, disabled vehicles, and objects on the road like debris. The features roll out globally on both devices this week.

The features helped make navigation app Waze indispensable for drivers, so much so Google acquired Waze in 2013 for roughly $1 billion. Since then, many features available in Waze have slowly migrated to Google Maps.
